She's in charge of taking care of and protecting the souls in the afterlife. She may also guide them to the afterlife (similar to a grim reaper)
She can make deals with the dead and with living, as long as they have a soul, then she can channel their powers and control them as her puppets. The "captured souls" work for her and give her support in battles and daily life, in return, she provides them with protection and guidance.
If they ever try to break the deal/bond they lose control and go berserk. Sumi may choose to cleanse them and gain control again or burn souls into nothingness.She can also replenish her own energy by drinking others' blood.HUMAN DISGUISES/OCCUPATIONS:• Shrine maiden: Sumi used to work as a shrine maiden in the past to disguise herself and live amongst humans. She also lived in an abandoned shrine when she first came to the overworld.
• Exorcist: Sumi used to work as an exorcist to disguise herself and live amongst humans and still be able to use her abilities and get more souls without being found out.MASCOTS:• Powder: Bat companion and familiar!Named that because they look like a powder puff, very round, fluffy and soft, "lends" Mimi (bat Sumi) one eye to see from.
Small round fluffy white bat with red eyes, cool toned grey inside ears, horns and darker wings with small curved inward - crescent moon shaped bones/spikes coming out of the the two last bottom curve points of the wings with a little string/chain with a gem attached to the last ones.• Sumeow: Sumi's cat form!She may transform into a cat whenever she wants, usually for a disguise, to hide or to get in/out of difficult places.
Small cat with deep purple hair and deep red fur only around the corner of the eyes and right ear, very fluffy, small red horns, small black bat-like wings.
She wears a red ribbon with pompoms at the tips - tied on her neck or tail.• Souling: Chat mascot!Black ghost with the white eyes and mouth. Has two little horns.
Wears a hooded cape with a bow with pompoms tied in the front.

Miyazu Sumire or "Sumi" is a soul demon that was banished to the overworld and had most of her power sealed, the reasons are still unknown...After being thrown into a portal to the overworld, Sumi found herself waking up in a forest isolated from civilisation. She wandered for a while, still confused, with her memories jumbled, until she found an abandoned shrine where she took shelter.The shrine was falling apart and was surrounded by rumours of being haunted and cursed. With time, wandering souls that found their way to the shrine also took shelter with Sumi, she took care of them and cleansed any tainted souls, in turn they helped her fix the shrine and it slowly became a safe haven for wandering souls, making it a lively place again.The shrine was rarely visited by humans as it was secluded and surrounded by rumours of being haunted and even cursed, but it became a known spot for apparitions and non-human creatures to be themselves and relax safely.Sumi soon became known in the town near for her exorcist and cleansing powers and was called for exorcist work many times later on.
She also worked as a shrine maiden at other shrines to learn how to best rebuild her shrine and maintain the appearance of being a shrine maiden.
Both originated from her wanting use and understand her powers more while being able to disguise herself and live amongst humans.
